SAFE Program

Hanson Fire Department offers fire safety instruction to school-age children through the public schools. We also offer programs to pre-schools, youth, adult and senior citizen groups, Hanson Fire is an active participant in the DARE camps, and TRIAD programs. To find out more, simply contact Lt. Our Public Education Officer, Lt. Jerry Thompson, has received numerous awards and accolades for his efforts at keeping our children safe, including being nominated for 2004 Fire Educator of the year. Jerry and his entire Group, 'D' Shift, were awarded Massachusetts Firefighter of the Year for 2003 for their work in our schools.
Hanson Fire also offers free public education programs for pre-school, youth, adult and senior citizen groups on a variety of fire and general safety topics. These programs are funded partially by grants from the Commonwealth and partially from permit fees collected by HFD.
SAFE trailer requests
Hanson Fire Dept. also hosts the District SAFE trailer, available to any fire department in the region that has personnel trained to use it. If your department wishes to reserve the SAFE house for an event in your community, you may do so by calling (781) 293-4612 or by email at SAFE@hansonfire.com.
